
December 2009 Mentor Celebration
On December 3, 2009, Stepping Up held a celebration for our latest round of mentors and mentees. Check out photos of the event in the slideshow below!
What They're Saying:
Incumbent participants that are currently enrolled in college or certificate programs are eligible to collaborate with a mentor who works in their field of study. Mentorships are offered at Rhode Island Hospital and Women & Infants Hospital, and last for six months. During that time, participants will meet with mentors on a bi-weekly basis. Mentors will provide guidance as participants attain the education and training required for the career they are pursuing.
Mentorships are offered in the following areas:
Patient Services - Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Respiratory Therapist, Certified Nursing Assistant
Technical Positions – Animal Care Technician, Technical Lab Specialist, Surgical Technician, Phlebotomist, Radiologic Technologist, Ultrasound Technician
Administrative Positions – Unit Assistant, Administrative Assistant, Patient financial Services, Departmental Supervisor, Departmental Manager.
The Mentor will work closely with a mentee
• To introduce them to their profession
• To provide focus in their journey to attain their ultimate professional goal
• To empower and support in a way only a mentor can
1. The Stepping Up Mentor will commit to working with their mentee for 6 months
2. The Mentor will meet four times a month:
a. Two meetings will be face to face
b. Two meetings will be either via email, phone conversation or other
agreed upon means of communication
